My friend and I ate here on a Saturday evening in early May. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had restaurant service this good. We paused on the street to look at the menu posted outside the restaurant and we were greeted by a lovely woman who asked if there was any questions she could answer for us.

We decided to eat there later in the day and she made us a reservation just to be safe. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we had a wonderful table right by the water reserved for us and were tended to by the kindest waitress named Danijela. She was extremely attentive and made the evening very relaxing.

I’m used to being rushed when picking out what I’m going to eat, but this was not the case at all. I do not know his name, but there was a gentleman who spent several minutes with me reviewing the menu, telling me all about the different types of fish I could get, and helped me choose the perfect fish for me.

I felt like the service was extremely personalized and as if I was the only one there. We ended up getting the palatino Sauvignon blanc to drink, which was very good. We ordered cavatielli broccoli as a starter which was delicious. We were also brought warm bread and local olive oil— this was fantastic!

One other item came along with the bread. I can’t remember the name but it was very good. I chose to order the local rock fish and they brought the fish out to show me what it looked like first. I thought that was super fun. They asked me if I wanted to have someone clean the meat from the bones once the rock fish was cooked, and I said yes. They ended up cleaning it right in front me so I could watch the whole process. The woman who cleaned it did a phenomenal job and the meat was boneless and clean as a whistle. The fish was incredible. It was so flaky and smooth that it didn’t even taste like fish to me. Even my friend tried it (she doesn’t like fish) and commented that it was good.I got the sides of roasted oven potatoes and roasted veggies- both were good.

My friend ordered the Gozo sheep cheese ravioli. All I can say is wow!! You must order this. The cheese was delicious and the helping size is very generous. We finished the night with the chocolate fondant desert which is basically a lava cake with vanilla ice cream. I really like lava cakes so I order them all the time and have eaten many, but this was the best I’ve ever had. Seriously. And it makes sense because it’s house made. At the end of our meal, the same gentleman that had been helping us this evening asked us if we would like something on the house. He suggested lemon cello and we got two free lemon cellos. I can’t emphasize enough the kindness of the staff at this restaurant and the professionalism with which they serve. A nice dinner on the water was the perfect ending to our time in Gozo, and this restaurant was the best place to be.
